Who is Who

Anne Lauber-Rönsberg

Anne holds the chair of Civil Law, Intellectual Property, Media and Data Protection Law and is the director of TU Dresden’s LL.M. Programme “International Studies in IP and Data Law”. The focus of her research and teaching lies on copyright, data protection and privacy, data governance and AI regulation. She is involved in numerous research projects, e.g., funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on data intermediaries and AI regulation. She is a member of the German Council for Scientific Information Infrastructures (RfII) as well as of the General Board of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR).

Josefine Kroll

Josefine studied German Language and Literature and Art History at the University of Greifswald, University of Siena/Arezzo (Italy), TU Dresden and at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (Italy). She received her Master of Arts in 2015 and her Doctoral Degree in Art History (Dr. phil.) in 2023 at TU Dresden. During her PhD she was coordinator of the German Art Historians‘ Congress (2016/17), project assistant in several museum research and exhibition projects (2017-2019) and junior researcher at TU Dresden (2020-2022). Since 2023 she has been working in the doctoral office of the TU Dresden Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science.

Lisa Muschert

Lisa studied language, literature and cultural studies in Dresden and is currently enrolled in the Master’s programme „European Languages“. She has been working at the Institute for International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law at the Technical University of Dresden since 2022. She is primarily responsible for team assistance and coordination in the MIPDaL project.

The main emphases of research and teaching at the Institute of International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law lay upon European and international law, intellectual property, data protection and media law, technology and environmental law, as well as on legal-sociological foundations. Some recent research topics include genetic engineering, artificial intelligence, as well as the protection of cultural property and human rights.

Dresden and its Technical University serve as the ideal location for the Institute’s headquarters. TU Dresden has a longstanding history in applied and industrial sciences. It continues to honor that history by ensuring its research and teaching have practical relevance and centers on the intersection of law and technology.
In addition, Dresden is a city rich in art and culture and is well on its way to becoming the next European business and science hub due to an influx of high-tech companies and research institutes.

In 1980, Sir Roy Goode created an environment where practising commercial lawyers and academics could meet, exchange ideas and, in doing so, foster academic excellence. His vision was that by bringing together different perspectives, we would create better outcomes. And so the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) was born.

Queen Mary’s CCLS is today one of the world’s leading centres for the delivery of Law study programmes. With over 20 specialisations covering commercial and non-commercial areas of Law, students have over 200 modules to choose. Studying mipdal at uc3m

MIPDaL students at UC3M will follow the Master’s programme in IP specialised in copyright. It was the first Master’s programme in Spain to cover this field of law and has an experience of 21 years. The UC3M IP Master’s programme has a clear professional orientation, and offers a specialized advanced education with a practical perspective in IP Law. Our faculty of UC3M academics is perfectly combined with external faculty teachers who are the main specialists in the sector and come from leading companies, law firms and institutions in the field. In this way, it is able to respond to the increasing demand for specific expertise in the workplace. MIPDaL students at UC3M count with: (i) extensive experience in teaching and managing an IP program, (ii) a broad and updated programme focusing on copyright, (iii) practical knowledge, and (iv) internationalization.

Excellence and internationalization are the main features of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. UC3M’s activities are guided by the values of merit, ability, efficiency, transparency, fairness, equality and respect for the environment. Internationalization is one of their main goals. UC3M has 600 permanent teaching staff (full professors, associate professors and senior lecturers) and a further 1.420 associate doctoral lecturers. UC3M lecturers have the highest proportion of research results evaluated favourably by the Ministry of Education out of all Spanish universities. International activity and attracting talent are two of the core points to achieve the goals of teaching and research excellence. With regard to its students, UC3M has 22.666 students of which 23,7% are international students. The Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) is a part of the University of Strasbourg and a renowned training centre in the field of intellectual property. Since its creation in 1963, CEIPI has become a key actor in the field of intellectual property, offering cutting-edge expertise in teaching, research and training.

CEIPI stands out for its commitment to innovation, creativity and the protection of intellectual property rights on a global scale. It is recognised for its academic excellence, its collaboration with international institutions, businesses and government organisations, and its contribution to the development of IP law on an international scale.

CEIPI trains experts in intellectual property law, whether they are engineers, scientists, lawyers or already practising. These professionals will work in a variety of professions in this field, such as French and European patent attorneys, industrial property consultants and specialist lawyers.

CEIPI’s French Section provides both initial and continuing training courses. In addition, the Centre also provides continuing education for European industrial property specialists by offering degree programmes and specialised seminars organised by its International Section.

CEIPI has its own research section, staffed by teacher-researchers, and as such has an important role to play in exploring developments in intellectual property law, through publications, participation in European and international projects, and the organisation of lectures and conferences.

Finally, CEIPI innovates by creating media such as a podcast (R2PI) and a blog (BLIP!) dedicated to intellectual property. These various media enable CEIPI to broaden its field of distribution and produce innovative content in the field of IP. CEIPI thus offers platforms that are accessible to a wide audience, whether they are students, professionals or simply curious to discover this field.

Located in the heart of Europe, the University of Strasbourg is heir to a great tradition born of the humanism of the 16th century when there was created an institution where theology, philosophy, medicine and law were taught.

Originally divided in three separated universities in 1968, focusing on sciences, humanities and legal, political, social and technological education, in 2009 the University of Strasbourg was born – a unique and pioneering example of merging universities in France. European by nature and international by design, the University’s fundamental training and research goals include forging partnerships with European and international universities. The University of Strasbourg is one of the largest universities in France, with more than 57 000 students (including approximatively 20% of international students). 

Certified Excellence Initiative (IdEx) – obtained in 2010 and definitively confirmed in 2016 by the national programme “Investissement d’Avenir” – the University of Strasbourg strengthens its position as an internationally attractive university. Implementing innovative projects that foster excellence, the University is involved in supporting its researchers and students.

Rich in centuries of history and culture, which can be seen for example in the historically preserved old town, a World Heritage Site, or Notre-Dame Cathedral, Strasbourg is today also the seat of numerous European institutions, including the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the European Court of Human Rights, which is why the city sees itself as the “capital of Europe”.

TalTech Law School combines more than 20 years of successful teaching and research, characterised by internationality and the ambition to be the best in the region. Our aim is to provide modern higher education and knowledge transfer in evolving fields such as technology law with a focus on the European Union legal area alongside traditional legal discourses. Our vision is to combine TalTech’s skills and expertise with the practical skills needed in the market. Accordingly, our faculty and advisors have in-depth knowledge of technology law and are opinion leaders in topics such as artificial intelligence, data protection, IT law and legal tech, so that graduates of our Law School leave the university as leading legal experts in the field of the introduction, regulation and implementation of innovative technologies.

The Associated partners are involved in MIPDaL in various ways, e. g. by participating in teaching as guest lecturers in the academic programme, or by offering internships to the students.

Associated partners include European and national intellectual property offices such as the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO) or the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) as well as national IP associations such as the French group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). Other local law firms, business associations and counsels are also involved in MIPDaL.
